On the morning of Thursday, July 18, a working breakfast meeting was held in the Delia Parodi Room of the Honorable Chamber of Deputies of the Nation, with women in leadership roles. The meeting addressed, from a gender perspective, issues related to employment, industry, and commerce. 

With the participation of Marisa Bircher, Secretary of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Production and Labor of the Nation, the focus was on the future participation of women in the Mercosur-European Union agreement. 

"With the Mercosur-European Union agreement, Argentina will see 10% GDP growth; on the trade front, exports will increase by 12% to 15%; the impact on employment will be positive through integrated collaboration between the state and the private sector, generating ongoing development for the provinces," Bircher stated. 

The national official also emphasized that the agreement brings a breath of fresh air to the bloc and strengthens Argentina's leadership in the region. Bircher also explained that the micro and macroeconomic impacts and future projections are being analyzed. 

Based on the gender issue, the challenges presented included overcoming equality barriers due to the vast opening of new worlds for women, through significant opportunities. In this regard, Laura Jaitman, an official from the International Affairs Department of the Ministry of Finance, stated: "The world sees that projects led by women generate better economic returns."

The working group included National Representatives Cornelia Schmidt-Liermann, Carla Piccolomini, and Carla Pitiot, as well as the Director of Parliamentary Diplomacy and International Cooperation of the lower house, Lic. Luciana Términe, and women representatives from Argentina's industry and commerce sectors.
